Spam accounts for 96.4% of e-mail

Spam has risen for the sixth quarter in a row, with 96.4% of all e-mail now spam, says network monitoring firm Ipswitch.
Using its Spamometer system, which measures e-mail that is received, Ipswitch said the increase in spam for the quarter just gone compared with 95% the previous quarter, and the 84% for the same quarter [...]

Western Union spam downloads keylogger

Spam emails, purporting to deliver a money-transfer notification from Western Union, but containing an attachment with an executable trojan, have been spotted in the wild by researchers at Sunbelt Software.

Anti-spyware site serves up spyware

A website that claims to help surfers get rid of spyware actually infects visitors, a security firm has claimed.

Trend Micro discovered the website, known as Removal-tool.com, linked to other web pages that would infect surfers with spyware programs.

Russian antivirus company Kaspersky has launched a hosted email-filtering service.
