Kaspersky protects corporate users of mobile devices from malware and SMS spam

admin

Kaspersky Lab has announced the release of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Mobile Enterprise Edition, designed to protect corporate users of mobile devices from malware and SMS spam.

Preventing malicious programs from penetrating the corporate network is one of the main IT security tasks facing companies today. However, traditional solutions fail to provide system administrators with the ability to track the numerous mobile devices (smartphones, PDAs, etc.) passing through the secure corporate perimeter. The integrity of confidential corporate data on devices used by employees is also an issue of vital importance.

Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Mobile Enterprise Edition is specifically designed to address these issues. It prevents malicious code from penetrating the perimeter of a corporate network via mobile devices and offers reliable protection for any data stored on them. Close integration with the Kaspersky® Administration Kit management console means the system administrator can deploy and administer antivirus protection from a single point of control on any node (file server, workstation or mobile device).

Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Mobile Enterprise Edition extends the full range of antivirus functionality to mobile devices. On-access scanning automatically checks all incoming or modified objects (SMS, MMS, and e-mail messages), while the launch of executable files, Bluetooth connections and other communication channels are all controlled. The user can perform on-demand scans at any time (security policy permitting), which delete or quarantine any infected objects detected on memory cards, individual folders or specific files. Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Mobile Enterprise Edition on-schedule scanning also executes full antivirus scans on mobile devices at times set by the system administrator (e.g., once a week).

The anti-spam filter blocks unwanted SMS/EMS/MMS messages, while an easy-to-use function enables spammer telephone numbers to be added to a blacklist. Contacts in the user’s address book are automatically added to a whitelist.

Antivirus databases and modules are updated automatically according to a schedule set by the system administrator, or once a week by default. Mobile HTTP updates are available (via GPRS, EDGE, WiFi, etc.) as are updates via ActiveSync during synchronisation with a PC.

The main features of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Mobile Enterprise Edition are its easy deployment, flexible administration and complete control. It can be installed from one point by a single system administrator regardless of the number of mobile device users in an organisation, and even if those users are located in branch offices or abroad on business trips. Installation is performed transparently when the mobile device is synchronised with a PC via ActiveSync.

By using Kaspersky® Administration Kit the system administrator can change the mobile device security parameters for specific users and groups, or for all corporate network devices. The system administrator also has access to detailed information about the date of antivirus database updates and the results of the most recent scans for the entire pool of mobile devices. When a device returns to the coverage zone after being inaccessible for any length of time, a connection with the server is established, updates are received and any new policies enforced.

Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Mobile Enterprise Edition is designed to protect mobile devices that run Windows Mobile 2003, 5.0 and 6.0.
